<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform memory error check without giving displeasure to a user. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises performing detail memory error check by automatically charging a power source when a present time is a set time (S20 and S21), switching off the power source (S23) by storing the result to a nonvolatile memory (S22), and displaying a memory error check result without performing the memory error check when the user charges the power source next (S20 and S24).
