摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of hot forging, which method can prevent cracks of a forged material by relaxing the concentration of a plastic strain in a corner portion by suppressing the generation of a dead metal zone even in the case of forging a difficult-to-work material. <P>SOLUTION: When a raw forging material having a nearly square cross section is forged so as to be reduced by forging from one end in the longitudinal direction to the other end, the forging material is turned every forging pass, and then the forging reduction is repeated by means of opposed flat anvils in a hot state. In this case, the forging material is turned such that the turning angle of (90&times;n)&deg; does not continue for every forging pass, where n is an integer of 0, 1, 2, or 3, and the forging in a hot state is carried out such that the forging reduction for one pass is 15% or more.
