<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and accurately discriminate the lead drawing-out directions in an electronic component whether they are two directions or four directions based on the image data about the electronic component. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation angle of the image of the electronic component is corrected so that the drawing-out direction of the lead of the electronic component captured by an image data capturing means coincides with the X-direction or Y-direction in the reference coordinates. Then, the X coordinate and the Y coordinate of the reference position of each lead of the electronic component are extracted, and the X coordinate and the Y coordinate of the reference position of each lead are normalized so that each of them is in the range of -1.0 to +1.0. Then, after the variances σx<SP>2</SP>and σy<SP>2</SP>of respective normalized X coordinate and the Y coordinate are computed, each of the variances σx<SP>2</SP>and σy<SP>2</SP>is compared with a threshold value, and the lead in two directions and the lead in four directions are discriminated according to whether either one of the σx<SP>2</SP>and σy<SP>2</SP>is larger than the threshold value or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
