PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display screen and a picture display device capable of displaying natural and vivid color even under external light illumination by removing speckle noise in a projector using a light source with narrow spectral width. SOLUTION: A screen displaying a picture obtained by modulating light from the light source with narrow spectral width has a main diffusion layer, and sub diffusion layers separated from the main diffusion layer on both light incident and emitting sides, and is constituted so that a distance (d) between the main diffusion layer and the sub diffusion layer has following relation to output peak wavelengthλand output wavelength half value widthΔλof the light source. The relation is d×Δλ>λ<SP>2</SP>and d<5mm. Then, the screen has a selective light absorption layer having an absorption peak in 550 to 610nm from the main diffusion layer to a viewer side. By such constitution, the speckle noise generated when using the light source with narrow spectral width is removed, thereby displaying the high-quality picture without clor fading.
