PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device in which the responsiveness during the rotation is improved by preventing the sticking between each vane part and a partition wall part from occurring when rotated to an advance angle during a maximum retard-angle control. SOLUTION: This valve timing control device rotates a vane 3 normally and reversely by the supply and discharge of a relative hydraulic pressure into and from an advance-angle side hydraulic chamber 32 and a retard-angle side hydraulic chamber 33 to change the relative rotation phase between a timing sprocket 1 and a camshaft 2 so that the opening and closing timings of an intake valve can be changed. The circumferential wall thickness of a second vane part 28b facing a first vane part 28a in which a sliding hole for a lock pin is formed is set larger than the circumferential wall thicknesses of the other two vane parts 28c, 28d. When the vane 3 is maximally rotated to one side, the second vane part abuts on the mutually facing side faces of one partition wall part 13. Small spaces are formed between the side faces of the third and fourth vane parts and the mutually facing side faces of the other partition wall part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
