<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication device capable of keeping fairness of transmission power of wireless communication devices within an ad hoc network, and capable of reducing process load and power consumption of it. <P>SOLUTION: A network controller 13 requests a route search from a route searcher 15 if there is no route information to a destination in a route information recorder 18 when requested for communication from a high-order layer processing part 14. The route searcher 15 obtains the transmission power for route searching from a route search transmission power determining part 16, based on communication data characteristics. It searches routes by normal transmission power when a communication requires real time property, but searches routes by minimum transmission power if the transmission requires no real time property. If failing in searching routes by minimum transmission power, a route search transmission power changing part 17 raises the level of transmission power and searches routes up to the normal transmission power.
