PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the potential of the common signal lines crossing the drain lines in a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: This display has a display panel which has gate lines and drain lines arranged in a matrix and other signal lines arranged along the above gate lines, and in which one pixel region is made of an area surrounded by adjoining two gate lines and two drain lines. The above display panel has a capacitor having a first electrode electrically connected to the other signal lines, and a second electrode electrically independent from the above gate lines, drain lines, and other signal lines, in the area outside the display area consisting of pixel regions.
