PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the skew of a paper P due to the formation of a loop, and to prevent the paper P from oblique motion, in an image forming apparatus A constituted so that the loop formed at a part of the paper P is made to function as a post-exposure buffer. SOLUTION: A conveying unit 11, for conveying the paper P to be conveyed from an exposure engine 7 that scan-exposes the paper P toward a developing part, is provided on the downstream side of the exposure engine 7 in the paper conveying direction. When the paper P, whose length is equal to or exceeding a prescribed length is processed, a pair of holding/conveying rollers 12 of the conveying unit 11 is stopped once, so that the loop Pr is partly formed in the paper P; then, the loop Pr is expanded and temporarily stored in the storage cavity S. Here, the leading end side of the paper P is pinched firmly by the pairs of first and second rollers 12a and 12b on the downstream side of the conveying direction of the loop Pr.
