Disclosed is a cover for a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. Said cover comprises a joining element that is to be fastened to the cylinder head and a sealing element which is located between the cylinder head cover and the cylinder head. The joining element is assigned to a connecting area while the sealing element is associated with a sealing area. The connecting area and the sealing area are embodied independently of each other and are separated in space while the lines of force of the fastening force that can be transmitted by the joining element and the sealing force which can be transmitted by the sealing element enclose a certain angle.
