<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device capable of minimizing false detection by detecting failure parts with higher accuracy, without a user having to perform unnecessary maintenance and to feel anxiety on failure more than necessary. <P>SOLUTION: This control device of a water heater 100, 200 comprising a plurality of component devices, comprises a determining means for determining the failure of the component device, and a predetermined number setting means. The determining means has a function for detecting abnormality of the component device, temporarily stopping at least the component device on which the abnormality is detected, and restarting the same, counts the number of times of restarting, and determines the failure of the component device when the number of times of restarting reaches the predetermined number of times.
