<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating material for a storage tank, preventing heat radiation from joint portions by machining a vacuum heat insulating material which is easy to break and hard to handle to be easy to handle and hard to break. <P>SOLUTION: The heat insulating material 13 which covers the outer periphery of the storage tanks 4, 5 storing liquid is formed by combining the vacuum heat insulating material 15 and a foamed heat insulating material 14. The heat insulating material 13 is split into a plurality of ones which are joined together to insulate the heat of the storage tanks 4, 5. The joint portions between the heat insulating materials 13 are formed with the vacuum heat insulating materials 15 overlapping each other. Thus, the heat insulating materials 13 which are each formed by combining the vacuum heat insulating material 15 and the foamed heat insulating material 14 are superior in heat insulating effect and easy to handle and assemble, resulting in improved working efficiency. The doubled heat insulating materials bring a good heat insulating effect over a long period.
