<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoding apparatus for calculating an inverse quantization value that is more proper, from a plurality of quantization indices the number of effective bits of which differs from each other. <P>SOLUTION: The decoding apparatus 2 classifies the quantization indices into a plurality of groups, on the basis of information associated with bit truncation positions of each bit sequence of each quantization index, produces a frequency distribution of each quantization index by each group, deduces frequency distribution of transformation factors, on the basis of the produced frequency distribution of each quantization index, and generates a random number with a distribution in matching with the deduced distribution, and produces the inverse quantization value, on the basis of the random number. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
