Prepn. of drinking water from sea water by evaporation - using evaporation plate onto which water is sprayed, contained in modular housing

A liq. esp. sea water, is purified by spraying it onto a hot plate and condensing the vapour to give a product which, in the case of water, is suitable for human consumption. The installation comprises a housing, pref. pyramid shaped with a cross section increasing downwards with a feed pipe for the fluid to be cleaned discharging over a heated evaporation plate. The housing is pref. from 1.5-2.5 m high and the angle of inclination of the walls is such that the vapour condenses on the walls and flows down them to a collection outlet at the lowest point. The device is a compact unit with a high yield capable of being built up in parallel banks to an installation of any desired capacity.
