PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system capable of optimally moving data in consideration of correlation between data to be managed by an application, and to provide a data moving method. SOLUTION: Operation information by each volume are collected. A data request level composed of performance levels to be requested to the volumes storing the data to be moved and volume permission levels composed of the performance levels of the respective volumes set in a storage device are respectively calculated based on the collected operation information. The data to be moved is moved to another volume with the volume permission level corresponding to the data request level to be requested to the volume storing the data, as necessary based on the calculated data request level and respective volume permission levels.
