PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure safety operation of a driver in a following vehicle whose forward visibility is intercepted by a screen display mounted on a preceding vehicle without having effect on fuel consumption of the preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: The vehicle mounted imaging apparatus comprises: a vehicle mounted imaging camera 5 for imaging the scenery of vehicle front; an image processor 6 mounted on the vehicle and producing an image based on the optical image of vehicle front picked up by means of the imaging camera 5; and a display screen 7 mounted at the rear of vehicle and displaying an image from the image processor 6.
