Nitro nappthofurans of formula (I) where the indicated bonds are attached in positions (4,5) (5,6) or (6,7) are new. (I) are antibacterial agents used partic. in the treatment or urinary, genito-urinary and gastro-intestinal infections such as trichomonas vaginalis, amoebiasis, colibactillosis, or pathogenic staphylococci. 2-Nitro naphtho 1,2-b furan and 2-nitro naphtho 2,1-b furan are specifically claimed.
