The automatic cow-tethering device has upright columns arranged in pairs, their top ends being coupled together in the close position. The automatic locking mechanism, comprising tongues and lugs, can be arranged to free all animals in a row by rotating the tube on which the lugs are mounted. One particular animal can be released by lifting the respective tongue manually.
