The hydrodynamic - mechanical compound gear for vehicle transmission has a hydrodynamic torque converter housing a planetary gear. This latter gear comprises a ring wheel connected to a torque converter turbine wheel, a sun wheel supported on a fixed housing in company with the guide wheel of the converter, and planet wheels engaging the ring wheel and the sun wheel. A bridging coupling (19) is provided fro the three-part convertor (1) with only one turbine wheel (4) and the planetary gear (2), and this directly connects the planet carrier (10) with the convertor housing (14).
