MEDIUM AND APPARATUS FOR REPRODUCING DATA FROM RECORDING MEDIUM USING LOCAL STORAGE

An apparatus and a method for reproducing data from a recording medium by using a local storage are provided to reproduce data stored in the local storage along with data recorded in the recording medium by using a virtual file structure. A binding unit related to a certain recording medium is read from a local storage. A virtual file structure is generated through a binding operation for combining the binding unit with a file structure recorded in the recording medium. Data in the recording medium and data in the local storage are reproduced together by use of the generated virtual file structure. The binding operation is performed by binding information. The binding information defines a location that a certain file in the binding unit occupies in the virtual file structure. The binding unit in the local storage is decided by the binding information.
