A signal case (200) has a housing (202) and a light source (306) placed within the housing (202). A door (300) attached to the housing (202) is configured such that photons generated by the light may be sensed outside the housing (202). A tab (310) is attached to the door (300). A sensor (312) is attached to the tab (310). The housing (202) or the door (300) is adapted to allow the sensor (312) to sense a parameter originating from outside the housing (202).
