A digital satellite broadcasting set top box, a home network control system using the box, and a method thereof are provided to realize a home server function in the set top box, and to realize a function of converting a home network control signal into a PLC(Power Line Communication) signal through a PLC converter to send the converted signal, thereby constructing the effective home network control system at low cost. A digital satellite broadcasting set top box(21) delivers a home network control signal to a PLC converter(22), or delivers a home network control signal corresponding to a control signal received from a remote place while a home server mode is set, to the PLC converter(22). The PLC converter(22) converts the home network control signal received from the set top box(21) into a PLC signal, and sends the PLC signal through a power line, then controls home appliances of a home network.
