<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a value collection system for achieving the highly convenient and efficient collection of a value by using a portable storage medium, and for achieving neither too much nor too little proper collection with respect to the collection sum of a value. <P>SOLUTION: In collecting a value relating to the use of a composite unit (printer), the value of a sum acquired before printing is collected before the start of printing from the balance data (at least either of general-purpose electronic money or point money) of the IC card MC. In this value collection system, when print processing stops before the print processing matched with the collected value normally completes, the value (change) for non-printing is returned to the balance data of the IC card MC.
