<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus with a simple configuration that has a discharge mechanism capable of properly discharging even in places of different environments. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a discharge control means is freely switchable between a regular discharge mode in which a discharge processing is performed such that while the output of a discharging power source means is controlled, a discharger discharges and an adjusted discharge mode in which a discharge adjustment processing is performed such that the control information of a discharge control means for performing the discharge processing in the regular discharge mode is adjusted. In the discharge adjustment processing, a discharge environmental index EnvLv is set based on control information Icc about a target charging output condition for a charging power source means adjusted in a charging adjustment process.
