PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting method for materializing rapid lighting of a mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp, uniform illumination, and a low starting current. SOLUTION: During starting the fluorescent lamp, a series of voltage pulses for driving the fluorescent lamp is provided to adjust a duty cycle, a switching frequency, and the operation voltage level of the driven voltage pulse.
