PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device in an image communication system that is capable of optimally executing facsimile communication processing, even in a system in which the communication device and a scanner/printer are separated from each other, while optimally executing a facsimile communication corresponding to MFP states. SOLUTION: A reading command by a reading command means is not executed when a transmission command of image data is received by a transmission command receiving means, and also, when state information of an image processor, to which reading is commanded, is discriminated that a reader is in an inoperable state on the basis of the stored state-information. While, the reading command by the reading command means is executed when the state information of the image processor, to which reading is commanded, is discriminated that the reader is in an operable state on the basis of the stored state-information. The image data read by the image processor are received from the image processor by an image data receiving means. The received image data are transmitted to a communication line.
