PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing apparatus which surely notifies a user of details and countermeasures of an error. SOLUTION: An HDD-DVD recorder 100 is the reproducing apparatus reproducing video and outputting it to a television set 200, and the recorder 100 is provided with: a detecting part 101 detecting an error; a television control part 103 turning on a power source of the television set 200 when an error is detected, while switching an input of the television set 200 to an output from the FDD-DVD recorder 100; a generating part 104 generating video showing details and countermeasures of the error when the error is detected; and an output part 105 outputting the generated video to the television set 200.
