PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a marking device which alleviates damages to a gimbal mechanism more effectively, even in the case that it falls from a high position, in use under a severe condition, and can endure its subsequent continuing use. SOLUTION: The marking device comprises a support member 2 being installed in a case 1; a laser unit holder 4, which is swingably suspended by the support member 2 via the gimbal mechanism 3; and light source units 5, 6, each of which is mounted on the laser unit holder 4, and diffuses light beams from a light source, in only one direction to enable line light to be radiated therefrom. The support member 2 is connected with the case 1 via dampers 7, 8, each having an upper section and a lower section which are made of a shock absorber. When a shock is applied, the dampers 7, 8 absorb the energy of the shock and prevent an impulsive force from propagating to the support member 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
