PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preliminary treatment method for a sintering raw material where the value of moisture in a sintering raw material is properly regulated and controlled, thus, even in the case the content of the moisture in the sintering raw material is varied, preliminary treatment for the sintering raw material can be efficiently performed without deteriorating productivity. SOLUTION: A moisture-containing sintering raw material is treated through a kneading stage, a granulating stage and a drying stage in this order, a part of the sintering raw material after the drying in the drying stage is returned to the moisture-containing sintering raw material or to the kneading stage, and the content of the moisture in the sintering raw material in the kneading stage or granulating stage is regulated.
