OPTICAL SHEET FOR BACKLIGHT, BACKLIGHT AND DISPLAY DEVICE

An optical sheet for a backlight is arranged on the surface light source of the backlight. An optical reflecting layer is formed on a transparent substrate and is provided with a plurality of penetrating grooves arranged in parallel at prescribed intervals. The width of the penetrating groove narrows from an upper plane opening section to a lower plane opening section. Each cylindrical lens is placed in the corresponding penetrating groove, and has a cylindrical surface covering the upper plane opening section of the penetrating groove. Since light from the light source is applied only from the lower plane opening section, an incidence angle at the time when the light reaches the cylindrical plane can be controlled, and much light deflected to the front plane is emitted. Thus, the optical sheet collects the light from the surface light source in a front direction.
