A method for effectively providing contents to a user through digital broadcasting by a push type is provided to minimize the change of existing middleware by the complementary combination of an agent application and a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) application and offer various contents to a user by the push type quickened by the agent application. An agent application for triggering the recording of a PVR interactive application which controls contents and the playback of the contents is transmitted to a set-top box of a user(S100). A recording function of middleware formed in the set-top box is executed by the agent application(S200). The PVR interactive application is activated in response to a playback request of the contents from the user(S300,S400). It is judged whether a condition requested for the playback of the contents is satisfied by the activated PVR interactive application(S500). When the playback condition is not satisfied, the condition requested for the playback of the contents is provided to the user by the PVR interactive application(S700,S800). The contents are displayed to the user in response to the satisfaction of the playback condition of the contents(S600).
