METHOD FOR DISCRIMINATING OPTICAL DISK TYPE, AND OPTICAL DISK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which quickly resumes a reproduction by using the previous discrimination result of a disk type without using a memory.

SOLUTION: A means for detecting the position of an expander lens by using a self holdable elements provided as a mechanism for correcting aberrations. The type of a previously reproduced/recorded disk is discriminated by detecting the position of an expander lens for aberration correction without using a memory for storing disk types, therby quickly resuming the reproduction/recording.
