PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamo-electric machine having an inexpensive and simple constitution, and reducing burnout due to abnormal heat generation in a brush. SOLUTION: A brush box 19 accommodates the brush 41, and has an abutment wall 17c deformed when a predetermined temperature is reached. The brush 41 is formed with a back end face 41b inclined to the abutment wall 17c, and pressed to the abutment wall 17c by a compression coil spring 43 for biasing the brush 41 to a commutator 37. When an armature 32 is energized, the heat is generated from the brush 41. If a temperature of the abutment wall 17c reaches the predetermined temperature due to the heat transmitted from the brush 41, the abutment wall 17c is deformed by a pressure from the compression coil spring 43 transmitted through the brush 41 so as to prevent the commutator 37 and a tip 41e of the brush 41 from contacting.
