PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying a lubricant for fiber useful for preventing the agglutination of fibers in the production of elastic fiber and having good aging stability of the lubricant over a long period. SOLUTION: The method for applying a lubricant for elastic fiber in the production of the elastic fiber comprises the application of the primary lubricant (A) composed of a hydrocarbon lubricating oil (A1) and an agglutination preventing agent (A2) and having a surface tension of 23-40 mN/m at 25°C followed by the application of the secondary lubricant (B) having a surface tension of 13-23 mN/m at 25°C.
