PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of improving the yield upon the manufacture by preventing breakage and displacement of a sealing material, and to provide electronic equipment provided with the liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device 100, a pair of substrates 40, 42 oppositely arranged are stuck to each other via the sealing materials 10 and a liquid crystal 48 of negative dielectric anisotropy is enclosed in a space surrounded by the sealing material 10 between the pair of substrates 40, 42. First vertically alignment films 52, 62 are disposed inside the respective sealing materials 10 between the pair of substrates 40, 42, and second vertically alignment films 54, 64 are disposed outside the sealing materials 10 on at least one side substrate between the pair of substrates 40, 42. Groove parts 10a with no vertically alignment films are disposed between the second vertically alignment films 54, 64 and the first vertically alignment films 52, 62, and the sealing materials 10 are disposed on the positions corresponding to at least the groove parts 10a.
