PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating type surface treatment technology which is free from any ammonium odor, and excellent in corrosion resistance and adhesiveness to a top coating. SOLUTION: The coating type surface treating agent contains at least one kind of metal to be selected from a group consisting of zirconium, titanium and vanadium, andα,β-mono-etylene unsaturated dicarboxylic acids.
