The mud separator (1) has a liquid heat carrier, a water trap (2), with an input terminal (9) and an output terminal (10). The flow cross-section of water trap is larger than the flow cross-section of the input terminal and of the output terminal, so that a mud separating zone (7) is fixed between the input terminal and the output terminal. A flow guidance mechanism is jointly arranged with the input terminal, in order to divert the input flow, flowing in the water trap, from the radial direction of the water trap.
