A sending device, a receiving device and a process for transmitting and receiving data streams, in particular video data, is proposed. The data streams 26 are divided 28 into sections 32, and the sections are divided 30 into packets, e.g. individual packets 101-103; the sections 32 are provided (transmitted) and received in an order which is the reverse of an original order, whereas the packets 30 are transmitted / received in an original order. A sending device (4, Figure 1) for such video data streams comprises at least one unit made up of a memory (8), a packetization device (10) and a sending module (12). Corresponding receiver (6) comprises a receiving module (14), decoder (16), image buffer (18) and display (20). The transmitter may include means to allocate an index to the respective packets, the index transmitted with each packet. The system is applicable to security monitoring or CCTV installations. |
