The method involves heating and melting a powdery toner at glass transition temperature, where an entry door (6) is provided for a print substrate that is overlaid with the toner. A region of a printing machine, in which the powdery toner is fused, is supplied or pressurized with an atmospheric pressure that is set above the atmospheric pressure of the surrounding of the printing machine. The atmospheric pressure in the fusing region is 40 percentage above the atmospheric pressure of the machine surrounding. An independent claim is also included for a fusing region of a printing machine operated with a powdery toner.
