The machine has a supply compartment (10) for receiving stockpile of inserts (8). The compartment occupies a volume situated between a waste evacuation belt (11) and a base of the machine. The supply compartment has an elevator mechanism (12) for assembling the stockpile to progressively insert the inserts between piled borders of paper sheet. The mechanism has stop unit for positioning the stockpile according to their dimension.
