The invention relates to a method for rolling stress-free rolled strip by zone-wise influencing of the effective dimensions of the circumferential surfaces of the barrel of the work rolls as a function of partial tensile stresses determined after the last stand in zones lying transversely to the rolled strip, and to an arrangement for carrying out the method. The known method, known as thermal camber control, for supplying the circumferential surfaces of the barrels of the work rolls and/or of the roll gap with a rolling emulsion thermally influencing the circumferential surfaces of the rolls provides control of the quantity, pressure and/or temperature of the cooling fluid. In order to achieve short adjustment times at little expense, quantities, determined by control, of a medium which influences the friction coefficient between the strip surface and the circumferential surfaces of the roll barrels are to be applied directly to at least one strip surface, allowing a shift in the neutral point and hence a change in the rolling out to be achieved by influencing the friction coefficient.
