In order, with low air exchange from the outside, to reestablish in living rooms a highly breathable air regeneratively in a circulation system, it is proposed according to the invention that the breathable air is preferably conducted in the living room in circulation and, in the event of high pollutant load, preferably over a chemisorption filter (2), in which the clean pollutants such as SO2, HCl, HF, NOx and hydrocarbons are separated off by known chemisorption compositions and CO is converted for example into CO2 and this circulated air is fed to a bio and growth converter according to the invention, preferably via a fan (3), this bio- and growth-converter releasing O2 from CO2, which is inevitably generated by respiration, and thus desired breathable air is regenerated and the process is connected in such a way that a continuous operating process of the growth converter is guaranteed by the plantings (7), in comparison with the plantings (8), being arranged to be exposed, that is, exposed to natural light day and night, and the planting (8) is accommodated in a darkened, but respiratory active housing in which, via light switches, depending on the natural light source, appropriate light effects are generated via special lamps for illuminating the plants during the night or dark time, so that a continuous assimilation of the growth converter systems arranged in interconnected rows in a modular fashion is guaranteed. <IMAGE>
