<p>A method for inhibiting corrosion of reinforcement members in a concrete structure which comprises inserting into a structure first and second gel formulations at least one of which contains a vapour-phase corrosion inhibitor active ingredient and each of which comprises a carrier material, the carrier materials undergoing, following mixing of the formulations in use, a delayed solidification reaction, the resulting solid composition providing vapour-phase corrosion inhibition in the concrete structure. The gels may be provided in rupturable bags. The carrier may comprise china clay, fumed silica, talc, bentonite, Fuller's earth or pulverised fuel ash. The corrosion inhibitors may be dicyclohexylammonium nitrite (DCHN), cyclohexylamine benzoate (CHAB) or cyclohexylammonium cyclohexyl carbamate (CHC). The formulations may comprise lubricants, oxygen-scavenging agents or viscosity modifiers.</p> |
