Methods and systems are disclosed for preparing to transmit data over a network. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a request to send (RTS) message in a first communication protocol, the request to send message having a destination address; causing an initial write request to he transmitted to the destination address using a second communication protocol; and causing a subsequent write request to be transmitted to the destination address using the second communication protocol in response to an indication that an error message was received. The subsequent write request may be transmitted after a predetermined time, the time being based upon the error message received, the number of subsequent write requests transmitted or the number of error messages received. Alternatively, reception of the error signal may be delayed based upon the aforementioned conditions. The first communication protocol may be ARINC 619 and the second may be Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP). May be used to transmit Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) text messages over Ethernet or Avionics Full Duplex (AFDX) data buses. |
