The artificial leather comprises a textile carrier (1) with base layer of plastics, such as coagulated polyurethane. The surface of the latter is provided with a plastics layer (2) containing organic polymers with elastomeric characteristics, containing micro hollow spheres (3). The plastics layer consists of a mixture of organic polymers with elastomeric properties and inorganic polymers with elastomer-like properties, and has a density of less than 0.72 g/cm3 and a Shore hardness of less than 58 Shore A.
