A device for generating a thermometer code is provided to reduce the area of a thermometer code generation circuit and generation time of the thermometer code, by generating the thermometer code according to a selective switching operation of a MOS transistor cell corresponding to a binary code by being applied in a D/A(Digital/Analog) converter. A first code generation part(300) supplies a power supply voltage to an output port selectively according to data bits of N binary codes. A second code generation part(400) operates complementarily with the first code generation part, and supplies a ground voltage to the output port selectively according to the data bits of the N binary codes. The first code generation part and the second code generation part include a plurality of basic cells of different types corresponding to the binary codes, and generate thermometer codes corresponding to a logic level of the power supply voltage or the ground voltage according to the selective switching operation of the basic cell.
