<p>The invention relates to a protective device for an electrical installation,comprising at least two electrodes between which an electric arc can form, anda device for interrupting (6) the arc, extending between an upstream end (6A)and a downstream end (6B), with an entry region (E) for the arc at the upstream end(6A) thereof, at which point the arc enters the breaker device (6). Said breakerdevice (6) comprises insulation means (10) which permit the arc to enter the breakerdevice (6) whilst forming an obstacle to reaching the exit for the arc, characterisedin that the insulation means (10) are formed by one or more flexible ribbons embodiedto form a partial insulation barrier between the electrodes and the upstreamend (6A).
