967,233. Hand-tool handle fixings. STANLEY WORKS. May 14, 1963 [May 16, 1962], No. 19022/63. Heading B4K. In a percussive tool in which one end of the handle 4 extends into the eye aperture 14 in the head 2 of the tool, the end 20 of the handle terminates inwardly of the exit 18 of the aperture, one or more wedges 18 being driven into the end of the handle and the handle is additionally secured by introducing a synthetic resin 24 across the handle extremity 20 and wedge or wedges. The shape of the handle and eye is such that the wedge or wedges force the material of the handle into direct contact with the surface of the aperture except for spaces between a portion of side surfaces of the handle and the surface of the aperture adjacent the exit 18 transversely of the direction of percussive force, the said spaces being filled with the synthetic resin 24. The head is heated prior to the introduction of the resin adhesive. |
