A method for implementing the locking function of a mobile terminal using a charger is provided to prevent illegal use and the leakage of personal information by automatically setting up the locking function of a mobile terminal when the mobile terminal is connected to a charger in order to charge the battery. If the user of a mobile terminal accesses a terminal setup menu and selects a 'locking function setup' menu(30), the mobile terminal displays a locking function setup screen. At the same time, the mobile terminal provides a password input window(32). If the user inputs a password, the mobile terminal judges whether the inputted password is matched with a preset password(33). If matched, the mobile terminal displays the locking function setup screen again. If the user selects a 'charger locking setup' item(34), the mobile terminal displays a charger locking sub screen. The user selects and sets up desired charger locking items through the charger locking sub screen(35,36).
