ORGANIC/INORGANIC COMPOSITE SEPARATOR HAVING POROUS ACTIVE COATING LAYER AND ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE CONTAINING THE SAME

Provided is an organic/inorganic composite separator, which improves the problem of inorganic particles within a porous active layer coming off, and inhibits a short circuit between an anode and a cathode even when an electrochemical device is overheated. The organic/inorganic composite separator comprises (a) a polyolefin-based porous substrate having many pores and (b) a porous active layer which is applied onto at least one surface of the porous active substrate and is formed of a mixture of many inorganic particles and a binder polymer. The porous active layer has a peeling force of 5gf/cm or greater. The organic/inorganic composite separator has a thermal shrinkage in a machine direction or transverse direction of 50% or less after being left alone at 150°C for 1hour.
