A polyester filament yarn having a non-circular cross-section by using the modified polymer and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to make micro-craters and micro-slits distributed uniformly on the surface of fiber form easily by a general slimming process. The polyester filament yarn is spun and manufactured by means of polyethylene terephthalate copolymer or mixture containing metal sulfonate of 0.3 to 5 wt% represented by a chemical formula such as R^1-SO3M and polyoxyalkylene ether compound of 0.5 to 10 wt% represented by a chemical formula such as R^2-(OR^3)n-OR^4. R^1 is alkyl group with the number of carbons of 10 to 500. M is alkali metal selected from Na, K and Li and the like. R^2 and R^4 are different reaction groups selected from hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl groups. R^3 is an alkylene group. The polyester filament yarn is manufactured by means of a spinneret having the cross-section of three or four leafs in order to satisfy the formulas such as B >= 2 X A, C >= 2.5 X B, and the cross section area of the spinneret(mm^2) <= the number of wings(3 or 4) X 0.04. A is the width of the leaf, B is the diameter of the end circular portion of the leaf and C is the length from the center of the leaf to the center of the end circular portion. |
